Good vs. Bad

Life is all about choices. Take the recently completed presidential election. Millions of Americans were offered a ballot filled with multiple choices. From those choices, we analyze, ponder, discuss, weigh the pros and cons, then make our selections. While a national election is a major event that challenges our decision-making prowess, the personal choices we all make every day of our lives are equally, if not more, important.

One of the reoccurring messages I advocate on this blog and my video site, livelife365.com, is taking personal accountability for your actions. Part of being personally accountable is making choices. Often, this is not as easy as it seems (think back to all those propositions or initiatives, along with the multiple candidates on that ballot, calling to you on election day.) As with many of the options confronting us this past Tuesday, many of them are good, while just as many are bad. Same can be said about our own life choices.

Livelife365 is all about choices, hopefully helping to assist you in making the right choices for improving your life by offering entertaining blog posts and videos that show fun ways that can change your life for the better.

While recovering from my recent shoulder surgery, I have not been able to exercise as much as I normally do. I have also cut myself some slack (or maybe it’s just the Vicodin talking) and have indulged in some unhealthy snacking. Choices. Some good and some bad. The end results of those personal choices is that I’ve gained a few unwanted pounds that I do not like, but know that I will eventually drop. How do I know this? Because I will utilize the same healthy eating and fitness practices that helped me lose two pounds a week and keep that weight off for years.

I will make GOOD CHOICES.

Here is a video I created that demonstrates, in a fun and entertaining way, some good and bad choices confronting us in our daily lives.

GOOD MIKE VS. BAD MIKE

Some anticipated questions, along with my answers, about the above video:

Q: Were you really smoking?
A: No, those were fake cigarettes that my wife bought for Halloween.
Q: Were you really drinking?
A: No, just pretending. I’ve not tasted alcohol since 1992.
Q: Were you really eating those Doritos?
A: Yes…and they were good!
Q: What’s with you and that wig?
A: I Miss My Hair
Q: How’s the shoulder?
A: Sill painful, but getting better every day.

Life is all about choices, some good and some bad. We all have the power to make the right choices that can help us live a healthier, happier, longer, and more rewarding life.

Until next time…

peace,

Mike

Love the video "Good Mike" -- you played the parts so well! And great reminders for us, even if it seemed like bad Mike was a bit extreme - it really drove home the point. The point that we have the choice to decide...

Take care of that shoulder...

Contrasting episopes ion the video were good. Instead of just having a choice it wouldgo a long way for peopelt o make a considered choice. this is where the values of that choude are weighed up before making the descision. If more pepel did this there would be more good in this world.

It is important that we take control of our lives. Instead of letting external events dictate what happens to us, we can make conscious decisions on how we want our lives to be. Thanks for putting up the video and your very humorous post to illustrate your points!!

Mom say we have eated too many foods and got too fat and she has cut our stinky goodness in half! We think that is a bad choice!

Wow, you say "While a national election is a major event that challenges our decision-making prowess, the personal choices we all make every day of our lives are equally, if not more, important" That's so for sure and worthy inscription on the walls. While many talks about the tremendous impact of the positive thinking (affirmations and so on), your comparison touches the heart indeed and depicts the reality as it is - - THANK YOU!
It would be no wonder if while writing with the vocabulary in hand, my writing wasn't plain enough, but the above words just pierced into my heart.
I'm so glad for your recovery is going well.
Wow! This is grand indeed.

If only we were as passionate about our health as we are about all the political issues going on now. People will take time to read, write and argue their point but never find the time to exercise, eat healthy and really "livelife365." Great article and very entertaining as always!!

Choices and personal responsibility. I quit smoking almost 10 years ago and I'm really glad I did. I'm still working on the rest of the healthy living and eating part of it, but I'm getting better!

Hang in there and your shoulder will be much better soon!

I enjoyed your video, glad I CHOSE to watch it! I am more like "Good Mike" than "Bad Mike" except for the vegetable stuff. None of your vegetables sound good to me--I don't eat any of those. I'll eat corn, peas, carrots, celery, peppers and cucumbers thought, but not often.

Very true indeed. We are either masters of our own ship or we aren't and suffer the consequences. Very well done. Have a great weekend. :)

This is just delightful Mike, I laughed and really really enjoyed it. You are a natural in front of the camera. Just a fantastic message presented in a fun and informative way. That fact that it humorous allows the message to sink into people who might not otherwise be open to it. Great job "Good Mike"!!! :) :) Hugs, Robin! I love it!

PS Wishing you a quick shoulder healing. :)

I agree 100% with you Mike. Life is about choices and my choice is to be rich and healthy.

I love the video Mike and I realize about so many differences between good Mike and bad Mike. Btw, did you color your moustache and beard for bad Mike? Just wonder ;)

Mike great post as usual. It is so easy to fall into the....it is out of my control mindset, when often it is the small choices that lead to the big issues.

It's a step by step process that starts with making a choice, and then another, and another....

Choices are hard sometimes, but that should not stop us from makiing them. Many time over the years I have worked for or saw managers who just can't make a choice and the business or department goes nowhere. At least if they made the wrong choice they would learn and could correct it.

Hi Mike,

In loving yourself you'll find that you're doing good for it. But sometimes it's hard to deny temptations, huh it's quite hard to detach if your hand causes you to sin.

God bless you!!! You are the captain of your ship

I think I'd choose wine over Doritos (well, I do each day). red wine - very healthy :-)

Ah yes, shoulder surgery. I remember it like it was yesterday (had it done in 01)....rotator cuff repair to be exact. NOT fun. LET the Vicoden talk for you Mike. You'll be up and moving again soon. And do your PT!!! But then, I don't need to tell YOU that! Your blog is forever inspiring. With gratitude, Laurie B.
