Landscape Escape Update

I am a man blessed with many hobbies, from book collecting and reading, to writing music and playing guitar, to traveling with my lovely wife and videography.  One of the hobbies I enjoy the most this time of year is working outside, digging in the dirt, and creating something out of nothing...like landscaping!

Last year, I started a landscaping project on the side of my house—I wrote about it, and produced this video:

Hobbies should fill your time and interest, perk your curiosity, and deliver satisfaction to your mind, body, and spirit.  They should take you away from the daily grind, inspiring and challenging you to make mistakes while attempting to do things you don’t normally do.  The good part—it’s your hobby, your time; if it doesn’t work out, who cares?

But when I start digging up the side yard, taking thrice-weekly sojourns to Lowe's, and invest mega time, money, and sweat equity, the end result should at least be something to be proud of.  You be the judge:

I love working up a sweat while I’m working outside, but I have to constantly watch out for dehydration, continuously chugging water, grabbing rest in a shaded area, and being cognizant of the

Next hobby for me is to continue working on getting my video site back up and running, while also creating more videos every week.  I am putting the finishing touches on a new music vid about green tea that I feel is my best work yet.  Stay tuned…

And if you do happen to stay out in the sun too long and start feeling sick, this video should help:

Until next time…

peace,

Mike

Your project turned out very nice--love the fountain! I guess right now, my hobby is blogging, unless reading counts too which I do outside when possible.

I wish I had a yard, because I would definitely have a garden. I swear, I'd be out there planting tomatoes, okra and peppers with a vengeance! ;)
My Dad had rows of vegetables growing in our backyard when I was a teenager, and that was the best! Until he had us out there weeding and turning over dirt, that is! :)

Yes, it's great to have hobbies, and I always feel sorry for people who can't figure out anything else to do with themselves besides just sitting in front of the telly or talking or texting on the phone all the time and gossiping. SAD!! There are SO many other more worthy and FUN things one can apply oneself to besides that!

Cheers to all hobbyists! ;)

OH, and thanks for the kinds words at my blog. Always appreciated, Mike! ;)

Oh MIKE!!! You are soooooo like me. I just love these videos because I too love landscaping, gardening, and working in the yard. I JUST LOVE IT, and totally lose myself to it. I've really missed it this summer due to getting ready for my book coming out in Sept.

But I realize this would have been the BEST summer to have a garden because we oddly have had tons of rain. So I've decided that if nothing else, I am going to go out with our electric weed whacker and trim my yard and pull weeds and compost for next year. And I will never go another year without a garden. I always have one and really missed it this year.

Your paths look FABULOUS!!!! I gasped when I saw the finished ones. WOW!!! I love how they twist and turn. So magical. That is TONS of work, shoveling, bending, leaning over, lifting, and so on. You are one fit dude!!! LOL! You have put hours and hours and days of work into this. It is stupendous. The colors of rock are gorgeous and the fountain is soooooo soothing, now I want one :) I am REALLY impressed. And it's so lovely there; I could hear the birds too.

You are just amazing, a natural, Mike; you could easily do your own show. Also you look soooooooo healthy!!! Man you look REALLY young. Disgustingly young!!! ;) LOLOL!!!

Really proud of you. You a beautiful inspiration! Just amazing. Hugs to you mike. I really enjoyed this. Robin

PS Have missed being here more!
